Frequently Asked Questions
Here you’ll find answers to the most important questions about our storage units and offices. So you can box yourself some space.
General Information
How does it all work?
Choose the right size of your storage box – we’ll be happy to advise you over the phone or in person. Choose your start date and then pop round – to sign the contract and collect your keys. Your box is accessible every day from 5 am to 10 pm – 7 days a week.
How big are the storage boxes?
Our self-storage units come in ten different sizes – ranging from 2 to 12 square metres. All units are at least 3 metres high. This means there’s space for almost anything: from a few moving boxes to an entire household’s belongings.
How do I find the right size storage box?
Just tell us what you want to store – we’ll give you personalised advice. Thanks to our experience, we’ll quickly find the right size for you. We don’t want you to feel like you’ve rented more space than you need.
How quickly can I rent a storage box?
Effective immediately! Your storage unit is now reserved for you. In most cases, you can move in on the very same day – yet you won’t have to pay until the start of the tenancy agreement – i.e. at the beginning or middle of the month.
How long can I rent a storage box for?
For as long as you like. The rent is charged monthly and the tenancy can be terminated at any time with two weeks’ notice. If you need a few extra days, that’s no problem. Late check-out is free of charge with us. Just let us know.
Can I have a look at the box beforehand?
We’d be happy to. Viewings are available during our office hours (Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 2.00 pm) or by appointment on Mondays and Wednesdays until 4.00 pm.
Can a storage box be delivered to my home?
Well, we get asked this question quite often too. The answer is no. You can think of our storage units as small rooms within a large building. We call these small rooms storage boxes, and we have over 1,000 of them in our premises.
Am I allowed to work in the storage unit, pursue my hobbies or, for example, work on my motorbike?
We totally understand why you’re asking – having your own space like this can easily seem like the perfect place for it. Unfortunately, that’s not what the DeineLagerBox is designed for: it’s intended solely for storage. Any on-site activities such as working, DIY or tinkering are not permitted by law. Of course, you’re welcome to drop things off or collect them at any time – in a flash, out in a flash, no fuss at all.
What if I'm not entirely satisfied with my storage box?
It’s important to us that you’re completely happy with your storage box – that’s our satisfaction guarantee. If, after moving in, you realise that the size or location isn’t quite right after all, we’ll work with you to find something that suits you better – and come up with a good solution.
What if I find a cheaper deal elsewhere?
Please feel free to get in touch. We’ll compare it with you – transparently and with no small print. If the offer is comparable, we’ll find a fair solution. This is part of our value-for-money promise – and fits in with our satisfaction promise: we want you to feel completely at ease with us.
Contract and Payment
How much is the deposit?
The deposit is equivalent to one month’s rent. It will be refunded in full to your bank account (cash refunds are not available) as soon as your storage unit is empty and we have received the keys back.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Yes, the minimum rental period is one month.
Is there a maximum rental period?
No. We have many tenants who moved in 20 years ago and have stayed ever since.
How can I pay?
By debit card, ATM card or credit card, bank transfer or SEPA direct debit, or in cash on the spot. All payments are transparent and traceable.
Why do you have monthly rental rates rather than weekly ones?
Put simply: if you rent a storage box for a year, it works like this:
- Monthly rent: € 200 × 12 months = € 2,400
- Weekly rent: € 50 × 52 weeks = € 2,600. So you’d pay around € 200 more – effectively for 13 months instead of 12. That’s why we calculate fairly and transparently using monthly rents.
Why is my storage box VAT-exempt as a private individual?
In short: because that is what Austrian tax law stipulates. According to Austrian tax law (1st Stability Act 2012), private individuals – just like, for example, associations, doctors, law firms or insurance companies – are exempt from VAT when renting a storage box. For you, this means: You pay no additional VAT; the price shown is the final price; no application or proof is required. Simply rent some space. And get on with more important things.
Why are the prices higher for businesses?
Different tax rules apply to business customers than to private customers. Businesses liable for VAT must pay VAT (20 %) when renting a storage box. This is added to the rental price and shown accordingly. Important to know: VAT is required by law. We show it transparently. Companies eligible for input tax deduction can usually reclaim it. The bottom line is: the net price is the same – the difference arises from the tax treatment.
How does the cancellation process work?
It’s dead simple! You can give notice by email, phone or in person – whichever suits you best. Or simply use our notice form at the very bottom of the website’s footer. Your tenancy ends at the end of the month or in the middle of the month – with a late check-out available on request. The notice period is two weeks. Return your keys to us and we’ll transfer your deposit back into your account as soon as possible.
Security and Access
How secure is my storage unit?
- 25 state-of-the-art HD cameras in loading areas, corridors and access roads
- Motion and smoke detectors
- Alarm system
- Security service (G4S) with night-time patrols
- Access by key only
- Each unit has a rodent bait station
How are my belongings insured?
The contents of every storage unit are automatically insured up to € 5,000 for private customers. You can take out additional cover up to € 20,000. Your own home contents insurance often covers storage as well. You will receive the relevant form when you collect the keys.
Who has access to my box?
Only you – or anyone you give the key to. You’re welcome to ask us for several keys.
When can I access my storage unit?
Open daily from 5 am to 10 pm. Including Sundays and public holidays.
Are there lifts or other facilities?
The facility is at ground level and fully accessible. Fast, spacious passenger and goods lifts are available for the upper floors. A sufficient number of trolleys and pallet trucks are available on site.
Facilities and Service
Is there electricity or lighting in the boxes?
The entire site is exceptionally well lit. A power supply is available for business customers on request.
What happens during a power cut?
Our modern emergency lighting systems will guide you safely to the nearest exit door and out into the open. In the event of prolonged power cuts, you can access your storage unit during our office hours.
Why are the walls of the storage units made of wood?
So that you can, for example, screw shelves into place and use them safely, or fit hooks, etc. What’s more, these walls ensure perfectly balanced humidity levels, without using any energy!
Are there any toilets?
Yes. There is a customer toilet available on site.
Is there anywhere to dispose of rubbish?
For business customers: “Yes”. You can dispose of cardboard, paper, plastic and pallets at our recycling point. We then happily return any materials that deserve a second life as packaging back into the cycle, in the interests of sustainability.
Can I drive up in a van or lorry?
Yes. There are covered, free loading areas right next to the facility – suitable for larger vehicles too.
Can I check in earlier or stay longer?
Yes, early check-in and late check-out are also possible by arrangement. Completely free of charge, of course.
Sustainability and Climate
How do you ensure a good atmosphere in the storage units?
Our frost-free storage units are designed to maintain a stable climate naturally. 10,000 square metres of coarse chipboard walls absorb excess moisture and release it again – without the need for electricity or air conditioning. In this way, nature ensures the ideal humidity levels for storage in our buildings.
How sustainable is your place?
With us, you can see sustainability in action: storage boxes made from renewable raw materials, recycling and consolidated deliveries. All our buildings are lit using energy-efficient LED technology. We source 100 % of our electricity from Tyrolean hydropower. Our fleet is electric. This way, we save the environment around 50 tonnes of CO₂ every year – and cut down on journeys.
Extras
Can you help with the transport?
We work with local partners for transport and removals. These partners will arrange a date directly with you and calculate the total cost – clearly and transparently.
Is there any packaging material or shelving available?
Yes. Boxes, plastic sheeting, packing tape and shelving are available. Our “Made in Tyrol” moving boxes are double-walled, sturdy and cost € 2.90 each (including VAT).
